Spleen is one of the largest organs of the lymphatic system.

Spleen anatomy location. It is the largest organ of the lymphatic system the circulation of the immune system. Splenic capsule is a tissue that protects the spleen against injury. More precisely the spleen is located posterior to the stomach and anterior to the left hemidiaphragm at the level of ribs 9 10.

It is an intraperitoneal organ entirely surrounded by peritoneum except at the splenic hilum. The spleen in located in the upper left quadrant of the abdomen under cover of the diaphragm and the ribcage and therefore cannot normally be palpated on clinical examination except when enlarged. It is underneath the ninth tenth and eleventh ribs.

It is located on the top left side of the abdomen and sits below the diaphragm and near to the stomach. It normally cannot be felt or detected as it is only about the size of the fist and is tucked away behind the stomach. The spleen lies behind the stomach above the left colic flexure and to the side laterally of the left kidney.

The spleen is an organ in the upper far left part of the abdomen to the left of the stomach. The spleen sits in the upper left of the abdomen protected by the rib cage. The spleen is connected to the greater curvature of the stomach by the gastrosplenic ligament.

The spleen also contains efferent lymphatic vessels which transport lymph away from the spleen. It is an important organ for keeping bodily fluids balanced but it is possible to live without it.
